Corporate Giving

How do I submit a request for a donation?

Please refer to www.usairways.com/corporategiving for application procedures and eligibility guidelines. US Airways provides contributions annually through our ongoing corporate giving program. An organization may make one annual request for all funding opportunities. There are no submission deadlines and the Contributions Committee meets bimonthly to review all requests. No status calls are accepted. Emailed, faxed or incomplete requests will not be reviewed or receive a response.

What is the difference between a Foundation Grant and an Annual Corporate Giving request?

Foundation Grants are monetary contributions given to fund programs, projects or initiatives that are large in scale and impact. Both the US Airways Education Foundation and the US Airways Community Foundation have application deadlines and geographic parameters. Please review the Foundation Giving page for more information. The Annual Corporate Giving Program provides financial contributions or in-kind donations of travel to nonprofit organizations that meet our funding priorities in our hub and focus cities. An organization can make one annual request for all funding opportunities and there are no submission deadlines. An organization, should they meet the eligibility requirements, may apply for funding from the Annual Corporate Giving Program, the US Airways Education Foundation and the US Airways Community Foundation.

How often can my organization apply for funding?

We encourage organizations to submit no more than one request per year. The first request received from an organization within a calendar year is the request US Airways will review. Any subsequent requests received within the same calendar year will be declined. Those requests funded in one year are not always assured of future funding as all requests are reviewed annually to best fit our philanthropic goals and budget.

Do we have a better chance of receiving support if we only ask for tickets?

US Airways provides support to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that meet our funding guidelines in two ways; through financial contributions or in-kind donations of travel. The airline does not make a distinction in giving between travel and cash, as each is a valuable asset to our company.

My organization is not located in one of your hub or focus cities but US Airways does provide service in my community. Can we apply for funding?

Each year US Airways receives thousands of donation requests from worthy organizations and individuals. To maximize the airline’s philanthropic reach, corporate giving guidelines have been established. Due to the volume of requests, coupled by limited resources, we support nonprofit organizations in providing services and program in to the major metropolitan areas of Boston, Charlotte, Las Vegas, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Washington, DC. These cities represent the communities served by the airline with the greatest presence of flights and/or employees.

I/My organization is a US Airways Elite member. Does this help ensure we will receive funding from US Airways?

We recognize that many organizations applying for funding may have business or personal relationships with US Airways. However, when making charitable contributions these relationships are not factored into funding decisions. All organizations and requests are evaluated using the same criteria, which includes assessments of the organization’s objectives and community-wide impact.

We are unable to pay the travel expenses to fly a family member receiving special medical treatment. Will US Airways waive the travel fees due to financial hardship?

Our corporate giving guidelines dictate that we only provide contributions to IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and cannot support individuals through monetary, travel donations or discounted airfare. However, US Airways partners with Air Charity Network, an organization whose mission is to facilitate a charitable means of long distance medical air transport for all medically indigent, low-income and financially vulnerable patients for specialized medical treatment.

How can my nonprofit organization receive frequent flier miles?

Each year, US Airways receives many requests to be enrolled in our Miles of Hope® Program which allows our passengers to donate their frequent flyer miles to a charity. US Airways has identified four national nonprofit organizations that have the largest impact for the miles donated by our passengers. These four organizations are the American Red Cross, Air Charity Network, Fisher House Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation. We are not accepting additional partners in the Miles of Hope® program. However, the US Airways Dividend Miles program allows individuals to share or combine miles from one account to another. Read our Dividend Miles program details to find out how.
