Achieving Preferred status
To qualify for the next Preferred level, you'll need to earn a certain number of Preferred-qualifying* miles or segments within a calendar year.

It's easy to earn Preferred-qualifying miles. Just purchase a flight on US Airways or any of our airline partners. Purchase and fly First or Envoy Class on US Airways flights to earn an additional 50% mileage.

Once you reach the required number of Preferred-qualifying miles, you'll be immediately upgraded to the next Preferred level and maintain that level until the end of the following program year.**

For example, a Gold Preferred member who reached 75,000 Preferred-qualified miles in June 2008 would be upgraded to Platinum status and would continue to enjoy that status through February 2010.

Terms & Conditions

* The number of Preferred-qualifying miles you'll earn are based on actual minimum miles, or on actual segments flown on qualifying paid tickets, whichever is greater. (There are certain discounted fares, like industry discounts and bulk tickets, which don't count toward Preferred status.) ** Preferred-qualifying miles or segments flown January 1 - December 31, 2008 count toward Preferred status in 2009. "Program year" is defined as March 1 - February 28.
