Miles of Hope®Through the US Airways Miles of Hope® program, the flying public may donate Dividend Miles to four national non-profit organizations: the American Red Cross, Air Charity Network®, Fisher House Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Donated miles are used to fulfill each organization's mission per the below non-profit descriptions. More than 86 million miles have been donated to non-profit organizations since the Miles of Hope program began in 1998. Mileage donations are accepted in 1,000 mile increments.
American Red CrossGoverned by volunteers and supported by community donations, the American Red Cross is a nationwide network of nearly 900 field units dedicated to saving lives and helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Led by 1 million volunteers and 36,000 employees, the Red Cross annually mobilizes relief to families affected by more than 70,000 disasters, trains almost 12 million people in lifesavings skills and keeps U.S. military families connected worldwide. Donated miles are used to transport disaster relief workers.
Air Charity Network® (formerly Angel Flight America)Air Charity Network's mission is to facilitate a charitable means of long distance medical air transport for all medically indigent, low-income and financially vulnerable patients in our society thereby ensuring equal access to distant specialized medical treatment or to appropriate facilities and settings for continuing care.
Fisher House FoundationFisher House Foundation is best known for the network of 32 comfort homes on the grounds of military and major Veteran medical centers. The houses are 5,000 to 8,000 square foot homes, with up to 11 suites, donated to the military and VA by the Fisher family of New York through Fisher House. Fisher House provides support to families of patients receiving care at the nearby medical center and has ensured that families of service men and women wounded or injured in the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom do not pay for their stay at a Fisher House.
Donated miles will be used to reunite families by providing airline tickets to these wounded heroes for a leave or pass from a hospital, or for their families to visit them.
Make-A-Wish FoundationThe Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. It is the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 75 chapters in the United States and its territories and 27 international affiliates on five continents. With the help of generous donors and more than 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted more than 127,000 wishes to children around the world since 1980.
